Biography
Joe’s family, devout Irish Roman Catholics, brought him up in Moss Side, Manchester.
He won Melody Maker’s ‘National Folk / Rock Contest’ for the best songwriter/performer and was offered a contract with EMI. He attended music college in Leeds to develop his craft as a writer and orchestral arranger and, most significantly, became a Christian.
1988 saw the beginning of a very dark period in his life when he faced numerous difficulties. Yet God was using all the brokeness he was experiencing, reflected in the album ‘Next To You’ and ‘The Harvest Has Begun’. Their impact was such that the BBC invited Joe to sing on four ‘First Light’ programmes.
Joe has often appeared on TV when visiting the USA, where he is continues to spend a considerable amount of his time. Joe presently travels with a prayer ministry team whose main role is to minister to those who respond to God during the visit. Over the years they have seen God moving powerfully, bringing much deep emotional and physical healing.
Joe’s story is one of God turning regrets into resources, setbacks into springboards, blood into blessings and trash into treasure, a message relevant to both the churched and unchurched.
